Ways We Help

CIL in Central Florida carries the same values as our founders envisioned 40 years ago. Each program incorporates a piece of CIL’s five core services: Peer-to-peer support, information & referral, advocacy, independent life skills training, and transition. In 2015, over 2,000 individuals with disabilities received life-changing support from caring and dedicated staff and volunteers.

Together with volunteer teams and CIL, individuals and families receive critical home modifications to create an accessible and safe environment for individuals and their families

CIL is the only organization to provide services to the culturally deaf community in Central Florida to close communication gaps, cross barriers, and open doors for the silent community

LS (name redacted for privacy) sought to find part-time employment as a cashier. She was already unemployed for three years when she made the decision to visit CIL. Program staff met with LS to discuss her employment goals and she expressed her love and knowledge fro Star Wars and Harry Potter saying "My dream job is working at the new Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios." Working with LS, program staff help her submit the application, prepare for the interview, and land the job. LS has now been working at Universal Studios at the Harry Potter attraction for 6 months! "I am grateful for all of CIL's help and service so I can work where I love and be independent!"
