On Friday, May 5th, CIL’s High School High Tech students from Polk County celebrated the successful completion of the school year with a field trip to Universal Studios in Orlando. The trip was made possible thanks to a grant by the Harper Family Foundation as well as the GiveWell Community Foundation for funding the program. 18 students Bartow and George Jenkins High Schools joined the adventure where they spent the day exploring, riding rides, and taking in the sights.
As part of StepAhead, High School High Tech students explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math, and the opportunities available to them to continue their education and explore career fields they may not have been aware of or thought inaccessible to them. Named the #1 High School High Tech program in the state in 2015 by The Able Trust, CIL’s program focuses on empowering students with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need in order to succeed.
